Easily attach a file from SharePoint Online to an email

A little accidental discovery. One of those discoveries that makes sense, now that I know about it. If your files are located in SharePoint Online, how do you attach them to an email reply or new email message? In this video I use Outlook 2013 and Word 2013.

    Hi
Watched the tip and it occurred to me there is an even easier way from within Word itself.
File > Share > Email > Send as Attachment
Even better is the ability from the Share option is to send in multiple forms such as a share from Office365 itself, convert to a PDF and send as attachment or simply send a direct link. My personal favourite is the invite people who are within my organisation as I can set edit or read only permissions on the document

    Hi Darrell,

I’m not sure if this comment should go here or not, but When using OWA Outlook to attach a file from OneDrive using the recent feature upgrade of “Inset attachment or OneDrive file” the attached file cannot be opened by recipients if they are part of a contact group I have created in the people tab of 365. Recipients who were emailed the same file individually (not part of the contact group created in the people tab of 365) are able to open the file. Any thoughts?

    Thanks
    Nathan

Hi Nathan. After selecting the file you want to share, are you using the “Share with OneDrive” option or “Send as attachment” option? Are the contacts in the contact group part of your organisation or external contacts without Office 365 accounts in your organisation?

I suggest posting to the forums at http://community.office365.com/ to get support queries answered. I see you have contacted me via Twitter too. After creating your post in the community, tweet me the link to the post and we can get a support conversation going with more details and screenshots etc.
      See you in the community.

even easier – create a shortcut to your Sharepoint site on your desktop. Then when you click on attach file select Desktop, then your Sharepoint shortcut, hey presto, opens up all of your Doc Libraries and Sites – then navigate to teh file you want. Easy.
